Capitalizing on Schlumberger’s global presence and support infrastructure, Schlumberger Water Services has successfully completed numerous projects on five continents, helping to meet future water demands in a wide variety of environments and applications. The Senior Geochemist will lead water resource, mining (when hired for mining projects), and environmental projects. The Senior Geochemist provides technical expertise on a wide variety of projects, including water resources investigations, mine waste material characterization and environmental impact evaluations, industrial sector-related water quality studies, and regulatory compliance and licensing. He/she is responsible for developing technical approaches, directing projects, and interacting with clients on a wide variety of project types, including environmental impact studies, environmental baseline studies, environmental management and monitoring plans, and mine closure/abandonment plans.

Senior Mining Geochemist

Qualifications:

* At least 8 years of relevant experience
* BSc in Earth Sciences or related subject with MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Geochemistry, Environmental science or associate relevant discipline
* Relevant experience as an Aqueous Geochemist
* Experience in geostatistical analysis and mapping
* Experience in Geochemistry Database Solutions
* Geochemical modeling / simulation knowledge
* Broad knowledge in environmental geochemistry and water-related issues
* Competence in surface and groundwater protection
* Project Management experience
* Excellent presentation, communication and report writing skills
* Experience in contaminant transport modeling is a plus
* Knowledge of AquaChem* (Schlumberger Water Services Software) is a plus
* Desire to undertake occasional international travel and assignments
* Fluent in English

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

* Coordinating, planning, supervising, and performing detailed hydro geochemical site investigations
* Undertaking field visits to collect site samples
* Interpreting data and analysis results
* Generating computer models for prediction of water quality evolution and geochemical compatibility
* Mapping specific geochemical areas for analysis
* Developing databases to track and organize information
* Provides coaching and mentoring to Staff Geologists and Field Technicians
* Actively participates in Industry congresses presenting Papers and Case Studies
