Overview of Position:
The Wheatstone Project is one of Australia’s largest resources projects and along with the Gorgon Project, will help position Chevron as a major liquefied natural gas (LNG) operator in Australia and globally. A final investment decision on the project is expected by the end of 2011 and Chevron is currently looking for creative knowledgeable and skilled people to join this exciting project.

Chevron Australia has an exciting role for an experienced Production Engineer to join the Wheatstone Subsurface team. This pivotal position acts as the primary interface for the Wheatstone Subsurface Production Engineering team and the Upstream Operations team providing technical input to assist with optimal well operating philosophies that maximise project value and deliver high production reliability over the life of the project.

Position Details:
Key responsibilities include:
• Act as key technical interface between the Project Subsurface team and the Upstream Operations team to optimise production operating strategies
• Optimise well operating and reservoir management plans and ensure that quality and timely data systems are installed
• Maximise well potential by balancing value drivers without compromising health, environment and safety (HES) standards
• Participate in operability reviews and operations assurance activities
• Serve as the key stakeholder in operations and systems associated with real time reservoir management
• Serve as the key stakeholder in the development of the initial start-up, restart and routine production testing procedures
• Mentor and coach less experienced team members
• Attend and participate in technical meetings with joint venture partners and internal stakeholders
• Commitment to health, environment, safety and Chevron’s best practices

Key skills and experience required:
• Strong demonstrated experience in a similar Production Engineering role in an operating company environment
• Tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline
• Subsea gas production experience is essential and experience in major capital project execution (phase 4)
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
• Self motivated, with the ability to work autonomously
• Confident and clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals across all levels
• Demonstrated commitment to Chevron’s values of integrity, partnership and trust and achieving an incident and injury free environment
