Kencana Petroleum Ventures Sdn Bhd (KPV) was established as a subsidiary of Kencana Petroleum Berhad on the 5th September 2007. KPV provides offshore drilling services and operates Offshore Support Vessels through its subsidiaries to cater to the needs and requirements of the players in the oil and gas industry worldwide. To date, KPV has invested in and operates several marine assets that include Tender Assisted Drilling Rig and Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels. Due to our expansion plan, we are looking for a qualified individual for the following position :-

OIM (Offshore Installation Manager)
Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) – Offshore Location


Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Engineering (Petroleum/Oil/Gas) or equivalent

Professional Experience :

Must Have 1 or more years as a Senior Toolpusher/Toolpusher

Licenses, Certificates, Credentials, and Other Requirements:

Medical Certificates are needed as required by local regulations.
Well Control Certificate of Competency (IWCF or equivalent) at Supervisor’s Level is required
Pre-employment and random drug tests are required
At least 2 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
Work in Offshore Location.

Operations Management

Ensure the rig’s Marine requirements are executed and are executed in a safe and controlled manner.
Monitors and lead the safe execution of all operations.
Ensures the drilling procedure and safe planning of the operation complies with the Operator’s drilling program.
Ensure the preventative maintenance of all equipment, including safety and emergency equipment is carried out as per Kencana procedure.
Oversees and monitor all activities executed by each department on the vessel/rig to ensure high standard of safety practices in work performance.
Suggest and promote improvement and modifications to the best for the rigs performance.
Ensure that inspections and daily checks of equipment, facilities are maintained, monitor the efficiency of the operation, verifies that safe practices are followed; initiate improvement programs and corrective actions where required.
Review reports and report to management as required.
Monitor all rig records, logs, and documentation on a daily basis.
Reviews monthly inventory reports, ensure adequate supplies for the rig and crew.
Monitor and promote high safety standards and general housekeeping throughout the rig.
Ensure drills are performed on a weekly basis – in compliance to statuary and internal requirements.
Ensure and lead safety meeting, monitor pre tour meeting are performed in accordance to Kencana requirements.
Ensure PTW system is followed as per Operator or Kencana requirement.

Management of Crew

Ensures that all new personnel receive rig safety induction.
Oversees that all rig personnel are trained and certified for their particular jobs according to the Safety Training Matrix and all statutory, Kencana, and client requirements before performing the job.
Verifies that training and certificates are up to date at all times.
Effectively delegates training responsibilities and requests additional training programs as needed.
Liaises between base office and rig regarding personnel issues, problems, and queries.
Monitor time sheets for the rig’s staff.
Manages conflicts among crew and supervision.

Environment, Occupational Health, and Safety Program Implementation

Ensure professional implementation of all the Kencana safety, environmental protection, and occupational health policies and procedures.
Implements and monitors the Behavioural Base Safety Program (WATCH)
Checks that the crew attends appropriate safety training and meetings, and verifies the quality of that training; conducts safety meetings, meetings with clients, safety committees, emergency teams, supervisors, and crew regularly to ensure a safe and sound operation.
Participates and monitor operational meetings and, on occasion, pre-tour safety meetings.
Ensure Reviews or develops of Job Safety Analyses, hazard assessments; ensures they have been performed/completed as required for all tasks and that they are accurate, complete, and implemented.
Perform accident investigations when applicable to ensure fully and correctly reported and that any necessary corrective action is implemented.
On site coordinate, training, and testing of emergency preparedness plans and procedures, and ensures emergency preparedness drills and exercises are performed and documented regularly with good results.
Ensures that the specific crews are designated for emergency situations according to the Rig Station Bill.
Ensures maintenance of the rig’s Safety Case and provides management with required information.
Makes recommendations for improving the Kencana Safety Management System.

General Management

Develops and implements mechanisms to achieve effective communication, information flow, teamwork, and learning among the rig team.
Ensures direct reports understand their roles, responsibilities, accountabilities, and performance measures.
Establishes goals and priorities for direct reports to onshore managment.
Monitors the performance and coaches sub employees as needed; holds direct talks and crew accountable to ensure compliance with Kencana QHMS procedure.
Assesses the competencies of direct reports, and works with them to enhance required competencies.
Reviews and propose promotions, leaves of absence, and other such personnel matters to be approved by onshore managment.
Ensure supervisors are informed of any operational, maintenance, environmental, health, safety, training, and quality issues, and work with team or individual to develop and implement effective solutions to address the issues.
Participates in the preparation of the rig’s annual goals, plan, and budget.
Implements and monitors annual goals and plans.
Ensure cost-effective operation; resolves any variances and report unforeseen cost to onshore management.
Ensures effective communication with manager and onshore personnel.
Manages the rig emergency response team and consults the appropriate management and Operator’s Representative if the safety of the rig or personnel is threatened; manages the response to any emergency situation and may cease the rig’s operations if deemed necessary.
Maintains updated knowledge of all local regulations, codes, and standards, and ensures rig and personnel are in compliance.
Makes certain that the legislative library is maintained onboard.
Follows all Kencanapolicies and procedures and performs all duties in accordance.
