Chevron Upstream Europe currently has a vacancy for a multi-skilled Instrument Technician based in Aberdeen within the Chevron Erskine (Normally Unattended Installation) Asset Organisation, a field based in the North Sea. As the Erskine Team supports a NUI Asset it is an office based cross-skilled team, which performs ad hoc intervention activity offshore. The Instrument Technician will provide operations support as well as process isolations in addition to their core skills as an Instrument Technician. The role is based in the Chevron Aberdeen offices from where operations visits to the Erskine Platform are made. Erskine operations and maintenance personnel spend an average of 90 days offshore per year.

Position Details:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

- Industry recognised apprenticeship and relevant qualification (minimum City and Guilds or equivalent), with extensive instrument operations and maintenance competency preferably gained in an offshore environment.
- CompEX certification (Units – EX01, EX02, EX03, EX04)
- Must have the ability to compile technical reports with associated drawings, pertaining to instrumentation and control systems/operations
- Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
- Conversant in SAP and Documentum
- Demonstrate a proactive, flexible and positive working attitude
- Shares knowledge freely with others to ensure best practices
- Continual personal development of alternative skills and qualifications is expected
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Conversant with Instrument based control systems such as ABB or Honeywell etc.

Key Job Responsibilities:

- Developing suggestions to improve plant, equipment and processes to ensure maximum efficiency within a safe environment
- Responsible for ensuring the integrity of explosion protected equipment throughout the platform
- Demonstrates commitment to continuous quality improvement through the development of applicable metrics
- Safe and efficient operation of a wide range of discrete packages and equipment, including high frequency PMR work, light mechanical repairs, documentation reporting and log keeping duties
- Maintains accurate and comprehensive records, including event logs, maintenance records, override logs, chemical records and lube oil inventory
- Diagnostic and remedial work/operations in the event of plant upsets using relevant P&IDs, vendor manuals and other data to assist with corrective action
- Enthusiastic and willing to advance in the position
- Cross training and assisting Operations in equipment/plant/system start up, maintenance, monitoring and shutdown/start up.
- Ensure any modifications, however minor, are dealt with using the Management of Change (MOC) process- Actively participates in constituency safety meetings, group meetings, risk assessments and tool box talks
- Carries out emergency duties as required on a normally unattended installation, including emergency control and command as well as control room operator emergency control duties
- Complies with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental requirements such as statutory requirements, Erskine safety case and environmental procedures manual

The range of equipment includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Simple and complex control loops interfacing with the Honeywell TDC3000 system.
- Emergency Shutdown System and associated inputs and outputs.
- Pneumatic / Hydraulic Wellhead Control Panel
