The Chevron-operated Gorgon Project, currently under construction, is one of the world’s largest natural gas projects and Australia’s largest single resource project. It will develop the Greater Gorgon Area gas fields, Australia’s largest-known natural gas resource and includes the construction of a gas plant on Barrow Island off the north-west coast of Western Australia. Chevron is looking for creative and experienced people to join the Gorgon Project team.

The Gorgon Field Subsurface team is responsible for the subsurface development planning of the Gorgon Project including the joint development of the Jansz/Io and Gorgon gas fields. As part of an integrated upstream and downstream project development team, the Gorgon Field Subsurface team will interface with and have a working understanding of upstream and downstream gas development concepts, drilling, operations and other support groups.

An experienced Geologist with broad geological and geophysical skills is required to support the Jansz-Io Subsurface Team. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for the development geology activity for the Jansz-Io field which is a shallow marine sedimentary environment.

Key skills and experience required:

* Demonstrated broad geological and geophysical skills gained from previous experience in a similar role within a large scale, complex, major capital project environment
* Degree qualified in a relevant discipline, with a higher degree preferred
* Strong experience in well-log petrophysics, stratigraphy/sedimentology, reservoir engineering, well and seismic data integration methodologies
* Committed team player with strong leadership and relationship building skills who can communicate and work with a multifunctional team , Joint Venture Participants and other Gorgon teams in a tactful and effective manner
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and confidently present to internal and external stakeholders
* Previous experience with Petrel and Landmark 3D Seisworks is essential
* Knowledge of EPOS, VoxelGeo, GOCAD reservoir modeling software, Syntool, Zmap, Stratworks or equivalent programmes would be advantageous
* A focus on operational excellence and an incident and injury free environment.

Key responsibilities include:

* Utilisation of knowledge in well-log petrophysics, stratigraphy/sedimentology, reservoir engineering, well and seismic data integration methodologies for well placement optimisation and resource recovery, reserves determination and production forecasting.
* Optimisation of existing Field Development Plans, Reservoir Management Plans and Subsurface Uncertainty Management Plans.
* Working with the project geophysicists to support 3D seismic mapping and future processing efforts for Jansz-Io.
* Working with other earth scientists to build new reservoir models of the Jansz-Io Field.
* Provision of input to execution planning for the development well program and then incorporate data and monitor well drilling activities.
* Interface with other disciplines to ensure alignment in the build styles of the earth models and to ensure these models meet the needs of the reservoir simulation engineers.
* Interface with Joint Venture Participants on well planning and drilling activity to share and align views and deliver a successful well drilling campaign.
* Commitment to health, environment and safety and Chevron best practices.
